Swansea City's Neil Taylor: 'We've got a top-ten squad at Liberty' This is South Wales --

NEIL Taylor reckons Swansea City's stars must get ready to rotate this season and declared: "We've got a top-ten squad."

Swansea kick off the new Premier League season with a mouthwatering game against Manchester United next Saturday.

And after boss Michael Laudrup gave 18 players starts in the two Europa League games against Malmo, there are places up for grabs in his first top-flight line-up this season.

Perhaps the fiercest competition for a shirt is in midfield, where Leon Britton, Jonjo Shelvey, Jose Canas, Jonathan de Guzman and Ki Sung-Yueng are all battling for a place.

But there are good options for Laudrup all across the field, and whether Taylor or Ben Davies starts at left-back is another big call.

Yet Taylor believes that the Swansea's opening-day line-up does not carry as much significance as in previous seasons — because Laudrup is bound to chop and change this year.

"All over the pitch, there are so many players who could easily play," Taylor said.

"This is such a strong squad — I'd say it is up there in the top half of the Premier League because if a man comes out, you can be comfortable with whoever comes in.

"We've probably got another XI really. You saw in the two European games that Garry Monk didn't appear, and when has he ever let the club down when he's played?

"That shows how highly-rated our team should be at the moment.

"I think all the good signs are, and I honestly believe this season there will be massive rotation in the team.

"(Rafael) Benitez did it at Chelsea last year — in every single game you saw a different team.

"Some managers like working like that, especially when you're in Europe with the number of games. We've got a massive hurdle to overcome to go into the group stage, but we know then we will play at least six more games, so everyone will be needed."

Taylor is relishing the return of the Premier League having seen last season ruined by a dreadful ankle injury.

The Welsh international played 90 minutes in last Thursday's stalemate in Malmo — the first time he had completed a competitive game since the first day of 2012-13.

Taylor now feels perfectly prepared for the new season and, whether he starts against United or not, the former Wrexham man expects to get his share of games.

"When people come to this club they come into a family club," he added.

"It's a close-knit squad. Wherever you're from and whether you can speak English or not, we all back each other no matter who plays.

"If you're not in the team and the team win then you're still at a Premier League club at the end of the season and that's what we all want.

"Of course you want to play and there will be players who perhaps play in different parts of the season because things change.

"But at the moment you just what a fair crack of the whip which everyone is getting and because of Europe everyone is going to be needed.

"You never know when a knock is going to be picked up, things change quickly and I know that better than anyone. It's just a case of taking it game by game and I think we showed in Malmo that the team isn't weakened by changes." Reported by This is 7 hours ago.
