Angel Rangel says Swansea City will not sit back in match against Malmo This is South Wales --

ANGEL Rangel insists Swansea City will not sit back tomorrow as they chase the away goal that would give Malmo even more of a mountain to climb.

Swansea head to Sweden for their Europa League second leg clash 4-0 in front after last Thursday's demolition job at the Liberty.

A hugely impressive performance in SA1 makes Swansea overwhelming favourites to qualify for the competition's play-off round.

But Rangel has warned his team-mates to guard against complacency, urging them to push for the away goal that would leave Malmo needing six to progress.

"I think it's great to go there 4-0 up," he said.

"It was important for them not to score at the Liberty and now we have to go there focused on getting the result.

"We have to play our own game because there are still 90 minutes to go.

"We have a great advantage but you can never take anything for granted in football.

"We need to score one goal because obviously it will be over then.

"That would be the killer."

There were concerns raised in some quarters as Swansea prepared to play a side that had thumped Hibernian 9-0 over two legs to reach the third qualifying round and were well into their domestic season.

But Michael Laudrup's side completed dominated in their first competitive outing of the campaign.

After controlling possession in the first half, Swansea made the breakthrough eight minutes before the break when Michu pounced on a mistake to score.

Run ragged, Malmo crumbled during the second period as a Wilfried Bony double and a strike from Alejandro Pozuelo further added to their misery.

Now Swansea must finish the job.

"It's important we keep it tight for as long as we can and if we do that I think we will get through," said Rangel.

"The way we play we will always create chances and if we score one I think that will be enough.

"I think we looked solid at both ends.

"It is important that we kept the base of the team from last season and the additions that have been brought in have added quality and intensity.

"Everyone has fitted in so quickly. They are enjoying their football and I think we are all happy with the way things are going so far.

"I know it's early days, but it was important to get our first game out of the way by winning in this way."

Bony's brace and other impressive performances from the likes of Pozuelo, Jonjo Shelvey and Jordi Amat have whetted appetites for the new campaign.

Last season, in which Swansea claimed their first piece of major silverware by winning the Capital One Cup and finished ninth in the Premier League, was widely regarded as the finest in the club's 101-year history.

And Rangel reckons there could be more to celebrate this term.

"I don't know how to describe it, I thought last season was the special one, but I think this season will be special again," added the right-back.

"We're playing European football, the club is making so much effort to bring in expensive players and that shows you how far we've come.

"Being able to play in the Premier League and in Europe is what every footballer dreams about.

"With that and the fans behind us, it is a dream.

"But we have to stay in reality and take things game by game." Reported by This is 4 hours ago.
