Scunthorpe shoppers to enjoy Valentine's Weekend International Food and Gift Fair in town centre This is Scunthorpe -- Scunthorpe town centre will welcome an International Food and Gift Fair for Valentine's weekend - from Thursday to Saturday, February 13 to 15 - selling delicious food and unique gifts. There will be market stalls galore on Cole Street with traders bringing flavours and gifts from all over Europe. Stalls include German bratwurst, olives, baklava, French crepes, Polish stews and sausages, as well as homemade fudge and cookies, designer handbags and amber jewellery. Keith Malpas from International Food and Gift Fayres, said: "International Food and Gift Fayres are a touring market company; we travel the width and breadth of the UK, and we will be starting our tour here in Scunthorpe. "We are hoping it will be one of many exciting visits to Scunthorpe over the coming year. Hopefully our market will attract local people and visitors into the town centre and help boost the local economy. Our traders are from all over Europe and the UK. Why not come down to see us, taste and smell all the different foods and aromas, sights and sounds of the bustling market." Councillor Liz Redfern, the leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: "With it being Valentine's weekend I'm sure this market will bring something a bit different to Scunthorpe town centre and gives people the opportunity to try a variety of food from across Europe. So please go along and see what fantastic products you can find." Valerie Hardy, centre manager for The Parishes, said: "We're delighted to welcome the international market to Scunthorpe. It will bring a great vibe to Cole Street and hopefully attract more shoppers to Scunthorpe. To celebrate Valentine's Day we are running a competition worth £90 where one lucky shopper can win a bundle of prizes for their Valentine. Alongside the international market on Friday (Valentine's Day) The Foundry will be adding its own romantic sparkle to the day, handing out real red roses and complimentary chocolates from 10am for a limited period only, as a thank you to shoppers. Peter Golightly, centre manager of The Foundry, explains: "We think Scunthorpe is a romantic town and Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to show it. We look forward to rewarding our shoppers with Valentines treats and hope they enjoy their visit.
