NIKOLAI Ladygin says he had no hesitation in joining Hull Stingrays for a second time.
The 30-year-old defenceman spent two seasons in Hull between 2006 and 2008 before returning to Eastern Europe.
However, he was tempted back as a replacement for Matt Suderman, who quit the club earlier this month.
Ladygin said: "My agent phoned me and asked if I wanted to go to Hull.
"I asked about the contract and everything is good so I signed.
"I knew about everything here and I knew the team and couple of guys and played against Sylvain Cloutier last time, so it was not difficult."
Having flown in last Thursday and trained on Friday, the Ukrainian slotted in seamlessly as Stingrays beat triple champions Nottingham Panthers 7-5 last Saturday.
Unfortunately, he was unable to prevent the Rapid Solicitors Stingrays slipping to a 5-3 defeat in Fife 24 hours later, but still impressed for a vastly-depleted squad.
"I had not played for two weeks so it was hard to play," said Ladygin. "Last Saturday it was a fast game so I'm feeling pretty tired, but a couple more games and I will be in shape.
"I think I'm a better player than last time I was here.
"I'm more experienced and I play smarter."
STINGRAYS' Martin Ondrej has been banned for three games by the Elite League.
His two-minute elbows penalty against Nottingham's Steve Lee was upgraded to a checking to the head match penalty after an appeal by the Panthers.
It means he will miss Stingrays' Saturday home clash with Edinburgh, Monday's visit to Belfast and Thursday's trip to Sheffield.
However, he was already struggling to be fit, due to picking up an injury against the Panthers. Reported by This is 12 hours ago.
