Conference a bonus for Macmillan This is Plymouth --

EUROPEAN delegates attending a conference in Plymouth on Friday will also support the Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning fundraiser.

About 60 people, half from overseas, are due to visit the city to evaluate a new European-wide training initiative for the unemployed.

The Individualized Training in Acquiring New Skills and Raising Employment Competences Programme, known as INSIGHT training, is driven by entrepreneur Gosia Kuklinska (pictured), managing director of Plymouth-based EuroPartnership Agency.

But before the conference gets under way, attendees will support the coffee morning, part of Macmillan's national drive to support the cancer-fighting charity.

Both the coffee morning and conference are in The Baylis Suite, at Tamar Science Park.

EuroPartnership Agency successfully bid to run the 385,269 euro employment project, funded by the European Commission.

The idea is to establish an innovative and free integrated training tool which aims to give people skills to find work and settle into a job.

European partners have been pilot testing the INSIGHT programme with organisations in Plymouth, including Wolferstans Solicitors, Colebrook (SW) Ltd, Tomorrow's People, Working Links, Plymouth JobCentre Plus and work clubs.

Partners in Bulgaria, Portugal, France, Lithuania, Iceland and Hungary have been involved with the two-year project and will send representatives to the Plymouth conference where it will be decided if the programme continues.

Friday's conference will discuss the programme and fine tune it before it is sent to the UK Government, and European partners, for approval.

"The conference marks the end of the initial development of INSIGHT and the piloting process," said Miss Kuklinska.

"It is also a great opportunity to bring together everyone involved in piloting the project and properly evaluate their feedback.

"All organisations involved have been positive, saying it has been a success. The hard work continues though as we seek approval for the programme, here in the UK and in Europe."

In Plymouth, groups of job seekers have evaluated the content and effectiveness of the training packages designed to increase motivation and self-awareness among jobless people, and equip them with generic skills sought after by employers.

The INSIGHT pack includes detailed handbooks for job seekers and trainers containing advice on job searching, interview and applications skills, CV preparation, and professional legal support. Reported by This is 8 hours ago.
