I WAS lucky enough to visit Cologne, with a whirlwind tour around its stunning cathedral, and a wonderful lunch on board the beautiful five-star Lord Byron, designed and decorated by River Cruise experts, with the comfort and enjoyment of our readers in mind. I am delighted to say it is beautiful – soft carpets, luxurious velvets, comfortable sofas, autumnal colours and floor-to-ceiling windows that enable you to make the most of the wonderful views as the riverbanks, towns and villages of Europe glide by.
There are many places from which to enjoy the views: the split- level sun deck offers plenty of seating, sun loungers and a plunge pool. The sumptuous Panorama Lounge gives you the chance to relax and enjoy a chat or a game of cards with friends and an evening tipple accompanied by a pianist playing a lilting tune. The restaurant offers everything from a buffet breakfast to a four-course a la carte evening meal. The cabins of the Diamond and Ruby Decks, even the Emerald deck's cabins, give you a duck's eye view as you sail along.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time on board. The staff were friendly and attentive and the ship welcoming – I have no doubt guests will enjoy their time on board and ashore, too.
The Lord Byron is not our only River Cruise vessel, it is joined by the four-star Serenade 2 and Swiss Ruby, the five-star Antonio Bellucci, Swiss Corona, Swiss Tiara and that whichever holiday you choose you will not be disappointed. Reported by This is 12 hours ago.
