Hotels in Devon and Cornwall are carving reputations for being romantic venues in both the UK and in Europe, according to industry experts.
Both counties feature prominently in TripAdvisor's 2013 Travellers' Choice Awards for the Most Romantic Hotels published on Wednesday.
Findings on the TripAdvisor website are based on millions of reviews and opinions from travellers around the world.
In the UK's Most Romantic Hotels category, Boskerris Hotel, St Ives, Cornwall, came third with Trelaske Hotel and Restaurant, Looe, Cornwall in fourth position. Fifth was The Old Rectory Hotel, Martinhoe, Devon, followed by Shelley's, Lynmouth, Devon. The Scarlet Hotel, at Mawgan Porth, Cornwall was ninth.
In the Most Romantic Hotels in the World class Boskerris Hotel came a respectable fourteenth and Trelaske Hotel Restaurant nineteenth.
And in the Most Romantic Hotels in Europe competition Boskerris Hotel came sixth and Trelaske Hotel and Restaurant ninth.
Emma Shaw, spokesman for TripAdvisor, said: "With the most romantic time of the year Valentines Day, fast approaching, these awards recognise hotels that couples rate highest in the romance stakes.
"It's great to see hotels in Devon and Cornwall flying the romance flag."
Last month in a separate round of awards from TripAdvisor The Old Rectory Hotel picked up two honours: sixth best small hotel in the UK and fifth best service.
In the latter category, the Trelaske Hotel and Restaurant was second.
