Arco to manufacture own brand with famous fabric
MANUFACTURING: Arco has teamed up with the makers of a world renowned fabric to become the only industrial distributor in Europe to hold a Gore-Tex® trademark licence for waterproof garments and footwear.
From September, the Hull-based safety company will be using its trademark licensee status to manufacture a new range of own brand hazardwear, weatherwear and footwear products using the world-famous fabric.
Thomas Martin and Neil Jowsey, Arco's joint managing directors, said: "Gore's reputation has been built on the undoubted quality of its products and, like Arco, is a company focused on discovery and product innovation.
"We will use this partnership to develop state- of-the-art products that will provide protection for those working in critical environments across all industries.

RETAIL: An explosion in the number of nail bars and charity shops may be seen as a negative by some, however new figures suggest the trend appears to be keeping the high street alive.
The Local Data Company's monthly barometer of shop vacancy shows the number of empty properties has continued to remain stable at 14.1 per cent in June.
This marks the fifth consecutive month the vacancy rate has held at 14.1 per cent.
Matthew Hopkinson, director at the Local Data Company, said: "This reflects a gradual improvement overall since the end of 2010. In part, this is as a result of growing consumer confidence as well as the growth of other sectors such as charity shops, convenience food stores and nail bars replacing traditional shop uses such as bookshops, clothing and electronics."
