1FORD has begun a new chapter in its history with the start of production of the all-new Ford Focus Electric, the first full-electric vehicle to be built by Ford in Europe. The zero-emission Focus Electric is spearheading Ford's line-up of electrified and highly fuel-efficient vehicles, and will be joined in Europe by the Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid electric vehicle next year and the all-new Ford Mondeo Hybrid soon after.

2VAUXHALL's new Insignia range is on sale with first deliveries to customers in October. Available as a five-door hatch, four-door saloon and Sports Tourer estate, the new range starts at just £16,279, nearly £2,000 less than entry into the outgoing line-up. There are four new engines, including a 99g/km 140PS 2.0 CDTi offering large cost benefits to fleet and high-mileage drivers, an all-new 1.6 SIDI 170PS Turbo and a new 250PS 2.0 SIDI Turbo petrol. Existing diesels also get refinement improvements.

3AS landmarks go, this is a pretty big one – the world's 30-millionth Golf has rolled off the assembly line at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg, a new production record for Europe's most successful car. Production of the original Golf began in early 1974. Since then, an average of more than 2,000 people has purchased a new Golf every day. The 30-millionth car is a Golf TDI BlueMotion, which has a fuel consumption value of just 88.3 mpg, making it the most fuel-efficient Golf built.

4SKODA is launching a special edition of its Yeti compact SUV. Called the Yeti Adventure, it's based on the best-selling SE trim level but includes more than £2,250 of additional equipment at no extra cost. Since its launch in 2009, more than 21,000 Yetis have been sold in the UK and it has won 15 awards along the way.

5THE road-going RCZ R will debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. It has a more powerful 1.6-litre THP engine with 260bhp, making it the most powerful production model in Peugeot's history. Its power/capacity ratio will be among the highest in the world for a production car at over 160bhp/litre with CO2 emissions targeted at just 155g/km. Peugeot also promises a bespoke suspension set-up, a distinctive wheel design, combined with a Torsen limited slip differential to harness its huge reserves of power and torque.

6LOWER emissions, greater fuel economy, reduced noise and more torque – these are just some of the improvements offered by the latest 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine now in the Nissan Juke. Since its launch in the UK at the end of 2010, more than 19,000 Jukes have been powered by the 1.5-litre dCi engine. With a host of improvements, the new engine is expected to be even more popular. The changes have boosted maximum torque from 240Nm to 260Nm at 1,750rpm, 80% of this figure available from just 1,500rpm. And with CO2 emissions of only 109g/km and combined fuel economy of 67.3mpg, the new unit is the most efficient engine in the Juke range.

7 RENAULT has confirmed UK pricing and specification for the GT-Line 120 EDC, the more affordable sibling to the Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC. Priced at £17,395, the new version sits between the TCe 90 Dynamique S MediaNav and the 200hp range-topper. With 120hp turbocharged power on tap, allied to much of the hot hatch style and features from the high-selling range's halo model, but considerably lower running costs and price, the French marque hopes it will have broad customer appeal.

8SEAT will go to Company Car in Action 2013 (CCIA) with nine new cars, the Spanish brand looking to demonstrate why it's enjoying tremendous growth in the fleet sector. The CCIA line-up will be spearheaded by the new Leon five-door, the FR 2.0 TDI 150 PS. The FR 2.0 TDI hits 62mph in just 8.4 seconds, yet emits only 106g/km CO2 and returns 68.9mpg combined. Its BIK rating is just 16%, and it sits in VED Band B.

9THE redesigned Chevrolet Camaro goes on sale across Europe towards the end of this year, with prices in the UK starting from £35,320 for the coupé with manual transmission. Prices for its convertible sibling start from £40,320, and customers here can look forward to taking delivery of their new Camaro from November.

10VOLKSWAGEN Commercial Vehicles is launching a special version of its Amarok pick-up. Called the Amarok Edition, it's based on the Trendline spec but includes more than £3,400 of additional equipment, representing a customer saving of more than £2,000. It also offers more exclusivity, with just 300 vehicles available to UK customers. Prices start from £22,495 (excluding VAT) with manual transmission up to £24,225 (excluding VAT) for the automatic.

11A jury of 87 motoring journalists from around the world has voted the Audi 2.5-litre TFSI unit the International Engine of the Year in the 2.0-litre to 2.5-litre category for the fourth year running. The first version powered iconic cars such as the original Audi quattro and Sport quattro S1. Now its legacy continues in the TT RS Coupe and Roadster.

12THE all-new Range Rover continues to fill the Land Rover trophy cabinet after picking up the Car Dealer Magazine Power Car of the Year award. Uniquely, the awards are voted for by dealerships of all brands across the country with 2,500 dealers contributing to the survey.
