Give us a vote on the death penalty

This is Staffordshire --

I MUST stress this is by no means a knee-jerk reaction to the brutal slaying of the soldier Lee Rigby.

There doesn't seem as though a day goes past without us reading of yet another brutal murder.

I get the feeling that life is so cheap here in Britain today.

We should have brought back the death penalty when Ian Huntley murdered 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002.

Mr Cameron looks as though he might give us a referendum on Europe, so why not on the restoration of the death penalty?

I believe the general feeling is that it should be brought back just for child killers and the murder of police officers.

But while they are also top of my list, let's not forget that all life is precious – except when you cross that line and take someone else's life, then you should forfeit your own.

Many people would vote for the return of capital punishment for murder and treason if we ever got the chance to vote.

The killers of Lee Rigby should be hanged for murder and treason.

Enough is enough. Let's start hanging them high.
