This is Kent -- Professor Richard Whitman is the director of the University of Kent's new Global Europe Centre, which was launched today (Thursday). He suggests Ukip's election success will complicate the UK's relationship with its EU partners. He said: "UKIP's local government election result is impressive and provides them with a credible platform to bid for the position as the second party outside the major non-metropolitan areas of the UK. "The result will put pressure on David Cameron to strengthen his party's policy on the EU in a more Eurosceptical direction - which, in turn, will complicate the UK's relationship with its EU partners between now and the UK General Election in 2015. "The launch of our new Global Europe Centre is therefore very timely. Within the UK, and indeed other member states, there is a growing debate around the future of the EU." What do you think?
